RIBAVIRIN

RIBAVIRIN, [CAS 36791-04-5] is an anti-viral medication of choice and is one of a number of nucleoside anti-metabolite compounds obstructing the copying of viral genetic matter. It is outstanding in its broad range of activity which includes viral hemorrhagic fevers – for which it is the only known treatment, flaviviruses and influenzas.

Ongoing investigative research has indicated the potential use of Ribavirin against smallpox, avian influenza, canine distemper and hepatitis B and it has the ability to enhance host T-cell mediated immunity.
